Video of the Week: Diving the Marine Park in Southern Baja, Cabo Pulmo & French T.V. Thalassa network comes to San Carlos to film story on our documentary El Oro de Cortez
This last week has been a world wind tour of Southern baja. First off we will be doing a story on the Marine Park at Cabo Pulmo later on this season. Cabo Pulmo located on the east cape of the Southern Baja is the Northern most coral reef in the Eastern Pacific. It has been an ANP or Area Natural Protegido for many years now. Basically a Marine National Park. The controversy that Cabo Pulmo now faces is from a high density land development very close to the park borders. This group of local citizens from La Paz and Cabo Pulmo have been fighting the development. The web site is www.cabopulmovivo.org and please go here if you wish to sign their letter. The locals are not against developing the area but this development, as many things in Mexico, was pushed through with an exceptionally flawed environmental impact study. The French are coming!! A film crew from the Thalassa France 3 T.V. network will be here to film a story on our documentary El Oro de Cortez. Stephan Poulle is a french journalist who has traveled all over the world to cover stories on the Ocean. The word Thalassa is actually greek for ocean and there is some interesting mythology to go along with the story. Stephan, his camera man Oiver and sound man Gerard will show up the 7th of October and they have a really nice camera and will get some stunning images of San Carlos to take back to France.
